Norway’s Princess Ingrid Alexandra celebrated her 18th birthday at the Royal Castle in Oslo. It wasn’t just the crème de la crème of the European aristocracy who attended – there was no lack of emotion either.

A dinner could hardly be more royal: On Friday evening, numerous well-known members of the European aristocracy attended the big gala dinner in the Royal Palace in Oslo on the occasion of the 18th birthday of Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway – glamorous ball gowns included.

The birthday child himself chose a violet evening dress with playful ruffles and sweet flounces on the skirt for the special occasion. In addition, Ingrid Alexandra wore the diamond tiara that was given to her for her birthday – a valuable family heirloom.

They are all future queens of Europe

Before the big celebration started, numerous group photos were taken on Friday, which the Norwegian royal family also shared on Instagram . The first shows Princess Ingrid Alexandra surrounded by Princess Estelle of Sweden , Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands and Princess Elisabeth of Belgium. They are all future queens of Europe. Also in the photo is the two-year-old Prince Charles of Luxembourg , who will one day be Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

The second picture shows the birthday child with his grandparents King Harald V, Queen Sonja and Marit Tjessem, his parents Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and his two brothers Sverre Magnus and Marius Borg Høiby.

Last but not least, a large group photo was taken at the gala dinner with all the royal guests. Among those present were King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife Queen Máxima, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and his wife Mary, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Daniel, and King Felipe VI of Spain, but without his wife Letizia. A total of almost 200 invited guests were present.

It is therefore not surprising that Princess Ingrid Alexandra excitedly stepped in front of the crowd during her speech. She thanked her parents and siblings – her mother, among other things, for being able to watch series like “Sex and the City” together on the couch. Grandfather King Harald V was praised for always having a joke up his sleeve when the mood was bad. The 18-year-old also shed a tear or two, as evidenced by pictures of the speech. But Ingrid Alexandra mastered the situation confidently, grabbed a handkerchief and ended her speech with loud applause and a solemn “Skål!” – Cheers!
